Others wait until the timing is right, then arrive with a current strong enough to change everything.

 

Now 8 years later, the artist couple brings Aqua Mania to DECOREX: 2026.

They’ve learned what water already knows:

the deepest currents run strong.

Cape Town’s waters, reimagined.
 

Aqua Mania is rooted in water and in Cape Town. The scenery pulls from the peninsula’s pools, tidal zones, and beaches that shaped both artists.

But this isn’t just a seascape show.

It’s a dialogue between two people who found each other late and decided to make art central to their second act.

 

Two Artists – One Tide

 

Wim Kruger:

 Who Learned to Break His Own Lines
Wim spent a lifetime loving art from a distance.

From Construction by trade, to Art collector by heart, he filled his 40s with sketches and concepts, testing ideas the way he once tested structures. Now in his fifties he is soaring the wave.

 

Yet, look closer and you’ll see the yearning for bending the lines… his borders don’t always hold.

 As Wim puts it, he loves “working outside the set borders, he constantly contends to break away from.”

 

The result is inventive, graphic, and quietly playful.

His works for Aqua Mania, fuse structure with nostalgia, like a blueprint drawn in a pool of water.

 

You see it in Kissing cutie:

 crisp realism meets a tiled, pixel-like background that shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.

 And in SOLE SURVIVOR, bold, neon-infused lines and a 80s poster-like energy, contained by a deliberate, clean form.

 

Wim Kruger builds his compositions like he once built structures, with clean realism and an artistic feel.

Then he lets 80s retro spill through,

Distinctive fresh lines.

Collectable precision with a pulse.

 

 

Magriet Kruger: The Artist whose love for design is evident in her work

 

Magriet Kruger has lived in color and texture for the past 30 years. As the designer behind a wellknown decor range since 2010, her work has filled major stores across South Africa. 

The last 8 years brought a shift.

 Slowing down. Living the slow lifestyle.

 Moving to the West Coast with her husband.  As Magriet says “Just soaking up and absorbing all the love and goodness around me.”

There’s a new spin busy unfolding in Magriets paintings. Her designer’s eye for composition remains, but it’s improved by texture, color and atmosphere,.

Invested in the now moment, they definitely flow together.

 

What to expect at Decorex 2026:

 

• Wim: Expect clean realism, meeting 80s retro, and a quiet tension between control and play.

 

• Magriet: Expect design intelligence show up in her command of colour, texture balance, and mood. These works are personal, not commercial.

Her work is design distilled to essence.

 

Neither artists are bound to a single style for this show.

As they both say:, they’ve each “flexed their muscles to showcase their abilities in various ways.”

 

 The punch-line isn’t a brushstroke. It’s the water. It’s Cape Town.

 It’s two lives that converged at 50 and chose to flow together.
